A Return to Idiocy
I'm trying to return to some semblance of a normal life at this point. The house seems empty without Emma. So I decided to post some things on which I normally would've commented. Here goes:
1. American Idol - I was happy with the two finalists. I think Melinda is very talented, but judging from her "neck and shoulders issues" I assumed she'd get voted out as not being commercial enough. I'm sure she'll be okay anyway. Jordin is bubbly, pretty and talented so I don't have as much a problem with her as I did with Taylor Hicks (blecch). For the record I would watch Blake read the paper. And the whole homoerotic undertones thing with him and Chris R. was worth the watch. But that's just me.
2. Work Out - I got hooked on this gym reality show early on even though the relationship between Jackie (the owner) and one of her female trainers seemed a bit on the "showmance" side. If I'm wrong I hope they're very happy together. The fact that Doug passed away suddenly was incredibly sad and unexpected. Everyone's reactions seemed sincere (at least I hope so).
3. Will and Grace reruns are finally back on the air in Philly. For a time they were playing them 3 times a day...then they took them off completely. But the gang is back and I'm happy to watch them when I can. By the way, I saw Golden Girls yesterday during the day and I laughed out loud when Sophia said that the Navy proclaimed Blanche a friendly port. Classic.
4. I had to buy a new air conditioner over the weekend since my old one self-destructed. It was over 15 years old at least so I guess I can't complain. We had some good times together and I'll miss it's not-so-gentle hum during the long, humid summer days. Thank the Lord my parents were able to run down and give me a hand with installing the new one. It's a behemoth.
5. My grandparents just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary and I realized that it would be mathematically impossible for me to be married that long. Even if it were legal in the US.
6. Charles Nelson Reilly passed away recently. Along with Rip Taylor and Paul Lynde he epitomized the wise-cracking 70s gay man without having to resort to puppets (yes I'm talking to you Wayland Flowers!).
